Sustainability Law LL.M.

This Master's program focuses on legal principles related to the environment, energy, resources and sustainability. The legal content is linked to environmental and natural sciences, economics and technology in an interdisciplinary manner. 

You will initiate and accompany sustainability strategies and their implementation and work on environmental, climate and energy law. The program will enable you to develop sound and practical solutions in environmental law for sustainable processes.

In our new Master's program in Sustainability Law, you will be able to question courses of action, identify problems, evaluate them through acquired knowledge, and apply this knowledge in addressing challenges in business and society.

As a Master of Laws, you will also be capable of challenging academic work upon completion of your studies, and could continue your academic career with a doctorate.

 

You are provided with the necessary legal and business know-how as well as the professional, methodological and personal skills that are relevant for accompanying the transformation process towards a sustainable future.

The focus of the new degree program is on an innovative, sustainable orientation of law and business and the personal assumption of responsibility in such complex, contradictory and dynamic processes.

Semester 3: Master's thesis

The possible career paths for graduates of the Master in Sustainability Law are diverse:

  • Companies in the energy industry
  • Management consulting
  • Politics
  • Senior official at authorities on a federal, state and municipal level

  • A university degree with an overall grade of 2.5 or better and at least 210 credits (bachelor's or diploma degree) from a German university or an equivalent degree from a foreign university.
  • In case of an overall examination grade worse than 2.5, applicants can be admitted if they belong to the best 15% of their study program at their university.
  • University degree in a legal or administrative law course (e.g. business law, administrative law, law, or similar).
  • Applicants with a lack of basic knowledge as well as applicants with a first degree of 180 credits can be admitted if they undergo a post-qualification.

The interlocking of studies and practice plays an essential role in this Master's program. Our professors and lecturers are closely networked with companies such as the energy industry. The knowledge is supplemented by external, practical expertise.
