The Master’s program in International Project Management provides advanced knowledge of agile, traditional, and hybrid project management methodologies. You can choose between two specialized study tracks:

  • Technical Project Management (M.Eng.)
  • Commercial Project Management (M.A.)

The curriculum is designed around the diverse disciplines and challenges of modern project management. Topics include working in international teams, leading without formal authority, project planning, risk management, and many other essential project management skills.

A key highlight of the second semester is the Project Team Management module. In this course, you take on the role of project manager, leading your first project while coordinating a team of Bachelor's students. This hands-on experience allows you to develop practical leadership and team management skills in a realistic project environment.

Semester 1 and 2:
Core modules for all students include:

  • Agile, traditional, and hybrid methods in international project management
  • Project planning, controlling, and financing
  • IT-supported project management
  • Project marketing and stakeholder management
  • Project team management

In addition, you will tailor your studies to your chosen specialization by selecting four elective modules.

Students in the Technical Project Management track can choose from modules such as Integrated Project and Product Development, while students in the Commercial Project Management track can select modules such as Commercial Project Management or Negotiation and Contract Management.

You will also choose from a range of interdisciplinary electives, such as Intercultural Competence, allowing you to further broaden your professional and personal skills.

Semester 3

  • Master's thesis
  • Master's seminar / colloquium

The Master's program in International Project Management equips you with the knowledge and skills to successfully plan, manage, and deliver complex projects in international and interdisciplinary environments. You will develop a thorough understanding of traditional, agile, and hybrid project management approaches while learning how to lead diverse teams effectively - even without formal authority.

Throughout the program, you will build essential competencies in project planning, risk management, communication, stakeholder engagement, and organizational leadership. These transferable skills prepare you to manage projects successfully in both technical and commercial settings.

Depending on your chosen specialization, you will further develop your expertise in either Technical Project Management or Commercial Project Management, strengthening the analytical, communication, and decision-making skills required in your field.

Hands-on project work, the opportunity to lead your own project team, and your Master's thesis further enhance your practical, methodological, and leadership capabilities, preparing you for responsible project management roles across a wide range of industries.
