Computer Aided Design _ Digital Textile Systems / Jacquard Weaving

Graduate designer Christine Scholl has been working as a lecturer for special tasks at Hof University of Applied Sciences / Münchberg Campus since 2010. Her teaching area for the Textile Design course is in the field of digital image processing and textile CAD systems for jacquard weaving.

The focus of her work at the university is teaching efficient work processes on various textile-specific computer systems.
The students acquire the ability to optimize and implement their own designs with the help of computer-aided design and finally realize them on the university's Jacquard Weaving Machines. This makes the teaching very practical and gives the prospective textile designers the opportunity to get to know the work processes of the industry during their studies.

In the 3rd and 4th semesters, you will acquire the ability to optimize your own designs with the help of Computer Aided Design, plan your own fabric constructions and apply the appropriate weaving technique. Various Jacquard and dobby weaving machines as well as an extensive range of yarn materials are available for the realization of your projects.

This course gives you a very practical insight into the technique of Jacquard weaving. You will learn the differences between various
fabric qualities and have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the industry's work processes during your studies.

In the 1st and 2nd semester of the textile design course, you will learn how to use the Adobe Creative Suite. Using the programs Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, you will learn how to optimize digital photographs, work with vector graphics and create digital presentations of your own projects.

With a focus on textile design-specific content, the course provides a solid foundation for digital work in the further course of your studies.
