In today‘s times where we cannot imagine companies or administrative bodies without computerized information processing, graduates from the field of Business Information Systems are in great demand. This is due to the fact that they are capable of making the best use of the potential of computer sciences in the corporate environment, based on their broad education. This bridging function between IT and Business Administration is of high relevance and the reason for the significance of IT business engineers in practice. Consequently, the outline of an IT business engineer’s profession is widely diverse and includes engagement in technological topics (e.g. database developer, system administrator, webmaster) as well as dealing with IT-related business concepts (e.g. IT-consulting, e-Business, controlling).
Studying Business Information Systems at Hof University means studying Computer Sciences with an emphasis on economic questions. The aim of the studies is to prepare you for the profession of an IT business engineer and to provide you with the necessary technical knowledge, skills and techniques. Graduates are able to apply scientific knowledge and processes autonomously and act responsibly in companies and society. They solve operational problems of organization and communication by using modern, innovative technology and play a major role in developing future-oriented products. The necessary qualifications for this are economic and analytical thinking, interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in groups.
Since both of the fundamental areas – Business Administration and Computer Sciences – exist as independent degree programs at Hof University, students of Business Information Systems can benefit from a wide range of specific courses for these subjects. Both areas are brought together in lectures, specially designed for Business Information Systems by professors working in this field. Other degree programs related to Business Information Systems, such as Business Administration and Industrial Engineering, complete the wide range of classes at Hof University.
