💡 Save the date: Applications for the "Next Step: Doktor" PhD Workshop are open from 14 September to 31 October. The application form will be available from 14 September. Simply apply with a short motivation letter explaining why you would like to take part in the workshop. Places are limited. You will receive feedback on your application by 4 November.

FAQ zur Veranstaltung
Anyone from industry or academia who is interested in pursuing a PhD is welcome to apply. Ideally, you will already hold a Master's degree (or an equivalent qualification) or currently be studying for a Master's degree.
The application period runs from 14 September to 31 October 2026. Applications will be reviewed, and applicants will be notified of the outcome by 4 November 2026.
The application requires the following information:
- personal details
- academic (and professional) background
- a short motivation letter (minimum 1,000 characters)
- applicable: information about any existing doctoral research plans
There are no formal requirements.
During the workshop, you will gain guidance on your personal doctoral prospects, make your first connections with potential supervisors and doctoral researchers, and develop concrete next steps for your future academic career.
In addition to the workshop sessions, both days offer plenty of opportunities for networking and informal discussions, including a shared get-together with snacks and refreshments.
Yes, it is possible to attend only one of the two workshop days. However, applicants who are available to attend both days will be given priority. If places remain available, participants wishing to attend only one day will also be accepted.

The workshop will be offered in both German and English. There are 15 places available for each language group.
Yes, participation in the workshop is free of charge, and catering is included. Any additional costs, such as travel expenses, must be covered by the participants themselves.
