Communication and negotiation

Communication is an indispensable key to success, enabling not only structured conversation but also convincing negotiation. Your negotiation and communication skills will be trained in this module and your presentation and persuasion skills will be improved.

Compulsory elective module

Out of the three areas, one area must be selected

Health Care
In the core area of health care, you will become familiar with the institutional and legal framework of health care and social services. Furthermore, the module focuses on understanding medical language and medical practice, as well as the origins, spread and control of diseases.

Sociology and Social Psychology

In this module you will study the interindividual behavior of people in social settings. Among other things, you will learn about the various dynamics that operate between people in groups and thus understand, for example, how people come to decisions together.

Clinical psychology

In the seminar you will deal with mental illnesses and the effects of physical impairments. You will learn to understand such mental problems and how they arise. The content is therefore the biological, social, emotional, cognitive and developmental and behavioral bases of mental disorders.

Industrial and Organizational Psychology

In industrial and organizational psychology, you deal with questions of interaction between people or between people and machines within companies and other organizations. Topics include personnel selection, personnel motivation, workload in the work environment, the attachment of people to organizations, and socialization.

Social work and social management

Do you want to learn more about how to promote the social and societal development of people and their self-determination? The "Social Work and Social Management" specialization offers interesting insights into issues of social justice, the human right to participation and respect for diversity.

Culture and cultural work

Due to globalization, the dimension of culture, especially in combination with other factors such as gender, is becoming increasingly important. You will learn what influence spatial, ecological and economic living conditions have on culture and discuss perspectives on how people of different cultural orientations can live together without tension.

Social Planning

You will acquire knowledge of the structural requirements of social work and social planning. You will learn what effects social change and socio-political decisions have on the provision of services and how these can be dealt with in a targeted manner within the framework of planning processes.

Methods of social work

In the module, you will explore in depth both "primary" methods such as social case work, social group work, and social community work, as well as "secondary methods" such as supervision, planning, and consultation.

Are you interested in how to ensure that nursing care can continue to be provided with high quality and economically in the future against the background of demographic change? In the "Nursing" specialization, you will acquire in-depth know-how about the nursing process as well as the methods and tools of nursing.

Professional nursing care in the health care system

Characteristics and concepts of effective nursing care are part of this module. You will address how to provide care and support, alone or in collaboration with other professional caregivers. You will learn about nursing theories and current nursing models for assessing resources and nursing needs. You will use these as a basis for setting goals, planning nursing interventions and their implementation as well as the subsequent evaluation of the results in order to achieve the best possible treatment and care outcomes as well as the highest possible quality of life in all phases of life. Differences between geriatric, nursing and pediatric care are also highlighted.

Challenges of care in an aging society

The greatest challenge facing our society is demographic change, which is bringing with it an increasing number of very old people and people in need of care. Therefore, the further development of concepts for the care of elderly and multimorbid people, especially in rural areas, will be discussed. Furthermore, considerations for the adaptation of legal framework conditions will be analyzed. Approaches to achieving greater social recognition of nursing care will also be discussed.

Home care

New supply and organizational models of care and provision must be promoted in the future. New forms of home-oriented care, which range between organized and voluntary care, must increasingly find their way into care. In addition to traditional forms of care, you will learn about new, innovative approaches and discuss their potential applications. The focus here is on digitization as a key driver that will enable "one-stop shopping" or "platform solutions" in the future.

Practical relevance

The practical relevance of the study program is mainly applied through an interdisciplinary project, a practical semester and finally a bachelor thesis.

Interdisciplinary project work

In this module, current issues in innovative healthcare are addressed from an interdisciplinary perspective. The aim is to sensitize you to the different perspectives and influencing factors within a practice-oriented project. To this end, you will bring the competencies acquired in the previous modules to the project.

The internship gives you an insight into professional practice. Theoretically acquired knowledge is put into practice and you develop practice-relevant solutions. You will gain insight into structures and work processes and learn partial qualifications relevant to practice.
The internship runs one semester.

Bachelor thesis

The module comprises the formulation of an application-oriented scientific question (topic identification), the development of a working concept, the performance of literature research, data collection and analysis as well as the development of solutions and their evaluation. You will document the results in a scientific thesis.
