|Campus Münchberg: Technical center with focus on textile technology and air conditioning inaugurated|
The technical center with emphasis textile technology and air conditioning was inaugurated on Thursday at Campus Münchberg of Hof University after three years construction time!
With the research topics nonwovens technology and textile composites using high-performance fibers such as carbon and ceramics Hof University of Applied Sciences has a unique selling point.
In order to expand these research activities in the future which will be applied in areas such as aerospace and turbine technology, a new building has been constructed in Münchberg which will house a carbon and a nonwovens pilot plant with state-of-the-art machinery as well as offices and seminar rooms. The Free State of Bavaria provided the university with 9.56 million euros for this purpose. The combined carbon and nonwovens pilot plant will further enhance the attractiveness of the Münchberg campus in teaching and research. The aim is to develop a center of textile competence with a radiance for the whole of Upper Franconia.
Minister of Science Bernd Sibler emphasizes: "At the Campus Münchberg of the Hof University of Applied Sciences, science and business, tradition and innovation go hand in hand: here, university and companies conduct joint research on sustainable textiles of the future. This technology campus shows that our Universities of Applied Aciences are sharpening their profile with a view to the local economic structure and are thus drivers of innovation in the regions. With the construction of the new Textile Technology Center, we are further expanding the Münchberg campus and thus ensuring even more attractive conditions. With this investment, we are strengthening the region - this is where we shape the future!
