Scholarships for studying abroad
If you are planning to study in another European country, it is best to apply for the ERASMUS program. This page provides information on funding opportunities other than ERASMUS. You should apply for scholarships well in advance (usually 6 -12 months before the intended stay abroad).
PROMOS - Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Grants provided by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts
Hof University grants travelling allowances or partial scholarships – provided that funds are granted to Hof University by DAAD (PROMOS) - and scholarships, provided by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts, for following funding lines starting from 1 January 2021: Study programs, Internships, Specialized courses/ summer schools, Final thesis - all beyond EU/ERASMUS

Grants under the Federal Education Assistance Act (BAföG)
International students are eligible to apply under certain conditions. You should apply for the grants well in advance (at least 6 months before the intended stay abroad).

Education loans
The loans are provided by the Federal Government. Eligibility criteria for foreign students are the same as for grants under the Federal Education Assistance Act (BAföG). Further information (in German) is available here.
Centers for University Cooperation
BAYHOST
BAYHOST is the Bavarian Academic Center for Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. It offers scholarships for study stays in Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, and Slovakia.
BAYLAT
The Bavarian University Center for Latin America promotes cooperation between Bavarian and Latin American universities. It provides information on universities and higher education systems in Latin America, as well as offering scholarships.
