This exciting three-week summer course gives you a holistic understanding of a supply chain and the concepts of lean production and production 4.0.
The program combines lectures with practical examples and excursions to industry and logistic companies. In addition to this academic course content there are numerous opportunities to experience German culture through an cultural and leisure program.
Hof University of Applied Sciences offers you a young and dynamic campus and a variety of leisure activities in town and its surroundings.

The prosperity of the German economy is based on its ability to produce and deliver products very efficiently and in a continuing high quality. The success factors are a distinctive supply chain management as well as an excellent and lean production. Our summer school gives you a holistic understanding of a supply chain. Based on quality and price targets of the customers and financial demand of the company we discuss how to manage international supply chains, how to ensure the quality demands from the customer and how to make production more efficient. In this context we introduce you the concept of lean production and explain the chances production 4.0 can offer.
The International Summer School on Production and Supply Chain Management covers the following subjects:
- Lean Management: Value Stream Mapping, Managing the Flow, Change Management
- Supply Chain Management: Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Systems Design, Inventory, Forecasting and Productivity
- Application systems for SCM (Administrative and industrial business processes, methods for planning and controlling the manufacturing process, introduction into SAP R/3, SAP approach for Internet of Things and Industry 4.0, integrated CAD-CAM-Chain demonstrated in our manufacturing lab) case study in the SAP R/31 system

Language of instruction: The course is taught in English language. Knowledge of German language is not required to follow the program.
Exam at the end of the course: 5 ECTS-Points
Maximum number of participants: 25
The accommodation is organized for all participants by Hof University Graduate School. The price for accommodation is included in the course fee.
Food must be provided by the participants themselves. Meals in the university's refectory and cafeteria are available at reasonable prices (2-5 EUR per meal). Vegetarian food is available.
Framework and leisure program
The supporting program includes guided company excursions, day trips, guided city walk, international buffet, film night, etc - free sports facilities on campus (tennis, soccer, volleyball, basketball, aerobics, etc.) (Please note that excursions are subject to change.)
The course fees are 1,500 EUR. This includes accomodation, company excursions, insurance and pick-up service from Hof train station. Participants have free 24-hour access to the internet and the library at Hof University.
Online application will be possible between December 10, 2020 and January 31, 2021.
In February 2021 an admission committee intensively scrutinizes all applications and decides about final admission.
