Languages are the gateway to the world, and are essential for success in an academic career. This is the reason why Hof University, as an internationally-oriented university, emphasizes excellent language education. The extensive language courses offered here are complemented by intercultural courses which prepare our students to strengthen their skills in integrating and communicating across cultures.
The language center offers a broad range of compulsory and elective foreign language courses including English, Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, Russian and Turkish. Our language courses are aimed at our students, but interested non-students can also join them. It is an opportunity to develop and improve your foreign language skills and expert language knowledge for academic purposes.
Currently, our language center includes eight full-time lecturers who are supported by 10 to 14 contract native speaker lecturers. The majority of the courses offered are aimed at the acquisition of a UNIcert (levels I to III) foreign language certificate, which is recognized outside Hof University as proof of foreign language proficiency. The language courses are especially aimed at students who wish to study abroad, and they range from beginner to high advanced level.
As a rule, the language courses for beginners start in the winter Semester. For registration in advanced courses a placement test is necessary.
Hof University is an accredited test center for Test- DaF. Further information can be found here. www.testdaf.de.
The language courses are only offered with a sufficient minimum number of participants.
