FAQs

1. How is the semester system / education system in Germany?

A: There are two semesters per year in Germany. Exams are conducted directly at the end of the semester. There are no mid-term exams during the semester.

2. How many do I need to earn as an exchange student?

A: Every exchange student needs to earn 20 – 30 credits per semester.

3. When do i receive the credits are completing my semester?

A: For winter semester – Assessment of grades takes place on 1st March and students receive their transcript of records between 1 – 31st March.

For summer semester - Assessment of grades takes place on 15. August and students receive their transcript of records between 15th Aug – 15th Sep.

4. Where can I find the grades?

A: Transcript of records is sent to students and coordinators via email and to the home university via post.  The preliminary grades are displayed in the Primuss Portal after correction of papers.

5. Can I repeat the failed exams?

A: Students can repeat the failed exams at the end of the next semester.
