Requirements

Entrance requirements for the Master's degree program Human Resource Management and Labor Law are basically:

  • A first degree in Business Law, Business Management or Legal Studies
  • with at least 210 ECTS (credit points according to the European Credit Transfer System - ECTS)
  • with the overall grade 2,5 or better or an equivalent grade. Considered equivalent is in particular a score of 8.0 in the first legal state examination.
  • Regarding applicants with a first degree in Legal Studies: a successfully completed module concerning the basics of Human Resource Management with at least 5 ECTS.
  • Regarding applicants with a first degree in Business Studies: a successfully completed module concerning the basics of Business Law with at least 5 ECTS.

Equivalent degree programs

In case you are lacking a degree in Business Law, Business Management or Legal Studies, you can be admitted to the Master’s degree program insofar your first degree program basically corresponds to a degree program in Business Law, Business Management or Legal Studies in content, extent and requirements

Equivalent basic modules

In case you are lacking the basic module in Human Resource Management or Business Law you can be admitted to the Master’s degree program insofar you have completed other modules which correspond basically to a module in Human Resource Management or Business Law in content, extent and requirements.

Catching up on basic modules

Applicants with a first degree with 180 ECTS can be admitted insofar they provide additional study and examination results of 30 ECTS until the end of the second semester.

In case the basic module in Human Resource Management or Business Law or an equivalent module has not been completed successfully, it needs to be finished within the first two semesters of the Master’s degree program.

You will get further information on the additional modules with your letter of acceptance and at the beginning of the degree program.

Interview

Applicants with an overall grade of at least 3,0 in their first degree program may prove their course-specific aptitude within the scope of an interview. The same applies to applicants who have achieved a score of at least 6.75 points in the first legal state examination.

The interview takes place in the semester break several weeks after the application deadline. The interview is conducted by two lecturers of the Hof University of Applied Sciences and takes about 20 minutes. Within the interview a legal problem is submitted to applicants with a first degree in Legal Studies and an economic problem is submitted to applicants with a first degree in Business Studies. The submitted problems are related to the respective other field. The course-specific aptitude is assessed according to the applicant’s legal or economic understanding and the ability to work methodologically. Further criteria are the ability of systematic, logical and interdisciplinary thinking as well as linguistic, rhetorical and communication competencies.
