Program Structure - Media Informatics (B.Sc.)

The most important points at a glance...

The Media Informatics program is divided into three stages, followed by an internship. Each stage spans two semesters.

In the fundamental knowledge stage (1st and 2nd semester) students learn the basics in design, computer science and marketing, which can be built upon during the rest of the studies. An introduction to object oriented programming is included.

In the 3rd and 4th semester the core stage offers specific modules. Lectures in software development and basic software (eg computer networks and database systems) are following. Design skills are enhanced, knowledge in the field of photography, film and the Internet is deepened.

In the 5th and 6th semester, students choose their areas of specialization from a catalogue of optional modules and can therefore decide for themselves to focus on specific points in their education. The elective modules are depending on the current offer and can be chosen from the fields of multimedia, internet, games programming, marketing, audio engineering, programming etc..

The 7th semester includes a practical project as well as the final paper. In an ideal situation the final paper and the practical project complement each other to allow students to work on an extensive project using the knowledge acquired throughout their studies. If all the stages of the study program are completed successfully, Hof University rewards the students with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree.

Here you will find the module descriptions with all the teaching content and educational objectives for the study of Media Informatics.
