The study program Business Law at the University of Hof includes seven study semesters with a final bachelor thesis. It is divided into three sections: the areas of principles (1st - 3rd semester), the areas of advancement (4th semester), the areas of specialization (5th and 6th semester) and the internship with the bachelor thesis (7th semester). The graduates receive the academic degree "Bachelor of Laws" (LL.B. = legum baccalaureatus).

The LL.B. is not designed as a competitor but as a business-oriented alternative to the traditional university legal education. On the basis of sound knowledge of business law and business management, the graduates should resolve legal problems of everyday life in the company, better yet, avoid them in advance. You master the method and way of thinking of both disciplines - Law and Economics - and can communicate competently with the entrepreneur as with the lawyer. You know your company, its products and its philosophy and you find individual, customized solutions, particularly in contract, labor, commercial and corporate law.

All sectors of the economy offer career prospects:

Companies, tax accountants, insolvency law firms, chambers and associations as well as banks and insurance companies.

Fields of activity in companies include, inter alia, purchasing and sales, law and auditing, human resource management, compliance, finance and taxes.

We are a member of the Economic Law Higher Education Association.

Study Focus on Law and Economy in Modern India

More than eight years ago, the University of Hof began to orientate themselves in their internationalization efforts towards India. Since 2011, the India focus is now firmly anchored in the mission statement of this educational institution. Economic relations between Germany and India have intensified in recent years. Both countries see themselves as close partners. However, the cultural differences are notable. Cross-cultural misunderstandings constitute a major barrier in German-Indian business contacts. Professionals and managers, who move competently in both cultures, are increasingly needed in the future.

As of the summer semester 2014, the University of Hof offers students of the bachelor degree programs Business Administration and Business Law this new two-semester study focus on India, among others, in cooperation with the Nirma University in Ahmedabad and the National Law School of India University in Bangalore.

Patrick Merz
Alumnus, Bachelor of Law (LL.B.)
Klug GmbH integrated Systems

"The interdisciplinary orientation of this study program has proven itself successfully.

To every project other economic conditions apply, therefore, not only pure legal knowledge is required in project business. Business education, acquired legal procedure and legal knowledge complement each other perfectly in this study program.

I would consider my practical semester abroad as especially valuable for my personal development. Aside from very interesting cultural and practical experience, it was of course a great opportunity to see something of the world."

Sieglinde Palitza

„Students can very decidedly and specifically choose their major fields of study and employers can, if required, catch up on what the degree has to offer."

Klaus Wagner

„A great compliment to the new presentation of the degree course and the content; I still could not find so much information anywhere else..."

With its multidisciplinary approach, this study program provides the graduates not only excellent career opportunities, but also the opportunity for further academic qualifications."
