Summer School Cloud Computing

Hof University offers a young and modern campus. This is an excellent environment for a summer school on the topic of Cloud Computing.

The summer school program will be a combination of lecturers and practical work at the IT-lab. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy the surroundings of the university for leisure in the beautiful northern Bavarian nature.

Summer School date: July 10th till July 22nd 2017

Course content

Digital processes are more and more part of production, consumer goods and infrastructure. The usage of clouds gives accessibility to data worldwide and independently. The course of the summer school will introduce you to the role of information systems and technologies in achieving a variety of system goals.

You will gain the knowledge of programming of emerging technologies of the so called “assembled web” – the next stage of the web. The Summer School Students will learn about:

  • assembling of existing technology clusters into customized solutions for any marketplace
  • open source web stacks and
  • open source web management systems,
  • dependency management,
  • libraries, frameworks, module themes, plug-ins,
  • application programmer,
  • data and content types,
  • Platform diagnostics,
  • user interfaces for data driven applications

 

Students and attendees should have a little experience with basic web building technologies.

 Students of Master Study programs in Software Engineering and professionals in the software industry

Accommodation

The accommodation is organized for all participants by ifw- Institute for Continuing Education.

Participants stay in single rooms in student accommodation on campus. Facilities for self-catering are available. The price for accommodation is included in the course fee.

Board

Food must be provided by the participants themselves. Meals in the university's refectory and cafeteria are available at reasonable prices (2-5 EUR per meal). Vegetarian food is available.

Framework and leisure program

The supporting program includes day trips to Nuremberg or Bamberg, guided city walk, international buffet, film night, etc - free sports facilities on campus (tennis, soccer, volleyball, basketball, aerobics, etc.) (Please note that excursions are subject to change.)

Course fees

The course fees are 1,350 EUR.  This includes accomodation, insurance and pick-up service from Hof train station. Participants have free 24-hour access to the internet and the library at Hof University.

In March 2017 an admission committee intensively scrutinizes all applications and decides about final admission.
